To whom it may concern….

Hi all, my name is Tyree Bailey.  I know that some of you know me, but there’s plenty of you who do not.  I am asked all the time why I tend to focus on the issues of death row as opposed to my own.  Well, today, I am going to explain, and hopefully shed a little light on the matter.

Back when I was 18 years old I was charged with aggravated sexual assault.  I was accused of sleeping with a young lady who wrote a statement for police that I never committed such acts (I have attached said statement), and her younger sister.

I was a kid who had no idea who or what he was facing in the South of Texas.  As much as the facts that surround my case, it was also my blindness that also played a part in my being here today.  I thought if I just told the truth that that would be enough… but it wasn’t… it wasn’t.

I never took it serious when my attorney told me that he had never tried a case like mine.  I didn’t think it was a big deal, nor did I take it serious when the courts denied all my motions.  I never believed that because I was unable to attain the funds to do all the things I needed to do myself that it would affect my day in court as it did.  I never thought that the Courts would let a man who is/was a civil attorney handle my case… a case that could potentially dictate my whole life from that point on represent me, but they did.  And the result was I now have 1099 years in prison.

I attached the young lady’s statement so you could see it for yourself.  The truth matters !   I have no reason to lie.  It means something to me that you all know the person that you read so often is not just talk.

I fight for the men and women on DR, because I know what it is like to be nowhere and need someone to believe in.  I fight for them because no one deserves to die.  I think it says more for a person to live with the things they have done then it does to die because of them !

Then too, I think about those who were like me….. Those who had no money to fight their cases… who had no money to hire lawyers to properly fight their cases.   Do you know how many men and women who were victims like that down here ?  Victims who didn’t have money for DNA testing or the funds to hire investigators.  People hate to talk about money, but it plays a big part in what does or doesn’t happen for defendants in this country.

I never spoke about me because I didn’t’ t think it was fair to CFTJ…  then again, I guess to not say something would be as equal unfair to you all.

I haven’t given up on myself at all, far from it, I AM INNOCENT !  I will fight to the death to prove that.  However, I also believe that I can do something good while I fight for myself as well.

As it stands right now, I am working on raising money for my defense.  It’s not easy, but then again, nothing worth having ever is.  But I refuse to give up or give in.  There is no doubt in my mind that I will be liberated !  NONE !

It is my hope that anyone who has ever read one word I have written knows me…  knows where my heart is…  knows what I stand for.  I won’t ever ask any of you for much, but I do ask that you believe in me, it matters !

My words to all of you will always be the same, as long as u believe in what you do, you can never go wrong.  As it stands today, I represent two battles (my own and the eradication of DP), two battles that for me can only end one way -- LIBERATION !  Because no matter how you look at it, we are both facing death.
