Fighting against Death Penalty since 1999

The Board of Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty designates August 9, 2008 as George Amison Burton Day. Baby George, as we like to think of him, would have been four years old today.
His young life was tragically cut short on September 18, 2006 in Birmingham. Baby George was asleep in his mother, Jennifer D. Ormond’s arms, when he was killed by a drive by shooter.
We learned of this tragedy when Jennifer, within days of the murder, asked about the death penalty for the perpetrator said: It won’t bring Baby George back.
We would like to take this opportunity to remember Baby George and to thank Jennifer for choosing mercy and for setting such a great example to all of us. Jennifer, we treasure your friendship and support and are in awe of your generosity.
With love and respect,
The Board of Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty
