Texas' highest criminal court judge Thursday asked a special panel to
dismiss misconduct charges and the "public warning" filed against her over
the handling of a 2007 execution-day appeal.
The Texas Supreme Court turned Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Sharon
Keller down on Aug. 16. The disciplinary case against Keller came after
she closed the court as attorneys for twice-convicted killer Michael Wayne
Richard tried to file a last-minute appeal. No appeal was filed, and
Richard was executed.
